The largest Museum in South East Asia

Set in landscaped gardens by the Terengganu river, five km from the state capital, the museum is a huge complex styled in traditional Terengganu architecture. You might like, to get to the museum by boat from the jetty at Kuala Terengganu's waterfront.

The Impressive Terengganu Museum was officiated by the late Sultan Mahmud AI-Muktafl Billah Shah, the Sultan of Terengganu. Covering an area of 27 hectors, the complex has a total floor space of 75,075 m.

It consists of 4 blocks of the main Museum, a Maritime Museum, 5 traditional houses and a landscaped area. Islamic Gallery Textile Gallery, Royal Gallery, Historical Gallery, Craft Gallery, Petroleum Gallery consists of the, main Building.

Two galleries consists at the Maritime Museum is Marine Park Gallery and Seafaring Gallery.

The museum itself is an impressive architectural feat with majestic complexes covering a vast area of 27 hectares next to the Terengganu river.

At the main entrance, the original Batu Bersurat (In scripted Stone) of Terengganu is located as a prove of one of the earliest Islamic influence.  In addition to that, Terengganu's old palaces and old traditional boats are also displayed in the museum's compound. As the largest museum in South East Asia, located in a hilly area of Bukit Losong, Terengganu's State Museum houses century's worth of historical artifacts and artworks.

Craft Gallery

An interesting place to appreciate traditional arts and handicrafts such as beautiful woven mengkuang mats, gold and silver ornaments, and brass wares. A range. of 1 unique daggers and weapons such as Keris, Lawi Ayam, Kuku Harimau and Sundang are displayed. This weapon which reflect the craftsmanship of the past blacksmith items or as symbols of status and power.
